Need to establish tree tomatoes.any person who has done it
Hello Jacob, here are some of the basics that will help you establish a tree-tomato farm on the assumption that you've done market research properly and you've much information on where to sell your produce.
Tree tomatoes require the following conditions.
PH 5.0-8.0
Altitude 1500 M- 3000M
Temperatures 15°C-20°C
Rainfall 600-4000 mm per year if not irrigation will be required
Fertile soils with high level of drainage and deep
-Field management like weeding, fertilizer application, pest and diseases management and hardening are done until seedlings transplanting age I.e 1.0-1.5 Meters tall

-Preparation of planting Materials
Seedlings can be raised from seeds (certified) or cuttings from healthy mother plant (1.5-2.5 cm thickness in diameter) and 45cm -75cm in length.
- Either of the case good and strong seedlings are those raised in polythene tubes
-Prepare shade area for your nursery
-Poly-tubes are to be filled with sterilized soil/Forest soil (top soil) mixed properly with aged compost manure or organic manure at the rate of 1:1.
- Put seeds and water them to soil capacity you can mulch on top if s shade is not erected above them. For cuttings ensure you use healthy cuttings free from pest and diseases
-soil can also be treated against soil pest and fungal diseases, for pest drench confidor and fungal diseases application of Optimizer both can be done at once.
LAND PREPARATION AND PLANTING
Land preparation should be begin one month before planting, with holes dug 150cm ×120cm and 60cm deep
-plant when soil is moist enough or irrigate when moisture levels are low
-Seedlings should be 1.0-1.5 meters in height
- mix top soil with manure at the rate of 1:1 plus 200 gms of DAP/plant and 250 gms/plant of CAN at every 4 months interval for 4years
Weeding, irrigation where necessary, pest and diseases management,pruning mulching are some of the most important field activities to be carried regularly as need be.
