what are the signs of a cow with heat
Physiological changes like
-increased mucus secretion in the cervix and vagina
-During cold weather vapour can be seen rising from the back of the cow.
-more swollen vulva lips
- "drop in milk production"
-two days after heat, blood is often seen extruding from the vagina or adhering to the skin around the vulva or tail.
Behavioral changes like:-
-Aggressiveness
-bellowing
-restlessness
-Flehmen lip curl
-mounting other herd mates and standing to be mounted.
-other departure from routine e.g coming in the parlor last while always the first and vice versa. She and the others interested in her could be the only ones not grazing.

To set the records straight.All those signs are important to detect heat.Most are really guiding signs.Standing to be mounted.What we call 'standing heat' should be the beggining of timing for insemination.
 
It's good to have records for your cattle,second during heat period farmer will be able to see the following signs,
Restlessness
Think mucus from the vargina
Production in some cases will reduce
The cow will also be seen moulting others
Swollen vulva
