Coco peat is a soilless media that is used for raising seedlings or growing crops in grow bags or pots.

Treating coco peat / buffering:

Materials

coco peat, water, calcium nitrate, EC meter, drum

Procedure

*put water in a drum

* introduce the cocopeat to hydrate or expand it completely

* Add Calcium nitrate and mix it thoroughly and leave for a period about 24 hours to allow the displacement reaction to take place.

* Mixing ratio: 1000 litres of water, 7 kg of Calcium Nitrate, 100 kg of cocopeat

* Rinse the cocopeat, fill the drum with water and rinse it again

* Test the Electrical conductivity (EC) to range between 1.5-2.8 then it is safe to plant in the media
