All chicks are debeaked without anaesthetic which causes acute and chronic pain and leads to difficulty in feeding and sometimes to death. It’s such an invasive procedure performed with a hot blade machine, Their beaks contain nerve endings and blood supply and if you trim too much it causes so much pain and blood loss the bird is then very, very distressed and ultimately death occurs. It’s hard to imagine the pain these baby chicks must endure...Debeaking can however be done in cases of cannibalism or egg eating...We don't recommend this though as these are vices that can be controlled by hanging greens to keep birds always busy, adding enough calcium to chicken feeds,timely egg collection and proper light management in the chicken coop.
