Veterinarian
Foot and mouth is one of the most stressing disease whose results can be very frustating especially if the case find s the farmer an aware. The disease sure way of control in through vaccination as it is one of the notifiable disease. Once the disease has set in you have to manage the condition to keep opportunistic infections at bay. Serious case would need antibiotic treatment to check on the wounds and sores on the hooves and mouth respectively. Ethnoveterinary approach involves cleaning the mouth using sodium bicarbonate(magadi) and the hooves too in addition to antibiotic injections. For the injections seek service of nearby vet. Cooper sulphate too can be used on hooves only as management for the wounds on the hooves.

Should you find out or suspect that your cattle have foot and mouth you should immediately report it to the nearest veterinary office.

Biosecurity is also very key. Footbaths are very important in any farm to control entry of diseases. Once you are in a farm with foot and mouth disease, it is advisable not to visit any other farm with the same gear without disinfection to prevent spreading. Otherwise management is as adviced above.
