The exact figure for capital requirement in this case may not be easy to arrived at since some more specific information and parameters would be required for such to be calculated. However the following general cost guidelines I believe can help you.
1 acre require about 100 kgs of garlic planting material @ksh.400 per kg
Land preparation from primary cultivation to bed/ridge forming ksh. 6000.
Planting cost ksh.2000
Fertilizer 2bags ksh.7000
Weeding ksh.3000
Chemicals (fungicide, pesticides) ksh. 2000
Harvesting, grading,bagging and other marketing costs ksh.5000
TOTAL ksh. 65000
THESE COST IS FOR 1 ACRE
SUITABLE GROWING CONDITIONS FOR GARLIC
soils:
Deep sandy/loam- with high percentage of Sand
PH 5.0-6.8
Temperature 12-24 °c
Rainfall : as little as 500mm well distributed still give results, irrigation may be used as a a supplement if rainfall isn't sufficient
