From land preparation to harvesting
Hello Miritivictor, I have summarized for you the whole process of growing watermelon in the attached tables screen shots below. To help you follow and understand and implement you need to take note of the following.
1. Soil types best for the crop, preparation for the land must be done early enough I.e a month before planting in this case month of August so that you can plant in Sept. targeting your crops to be ready during peak demand indicated in the table below.
Early land preparations give the farmer benefit in weed control, improve soil aeration/drainage, escape field pests and also increases chances of seed germination.
  1. Field should be kept weed free manually or chemically
  2. If moisture levels are below indicated ranges then irrigation is inevitable since watermelon requires constant moist soil during early stages of growth but not during fruiting periods
  3. If the soils are not deep enough then soil moulds may be prepared to improve also drainage.
  4. Ensure you fertilize your crops adequately
  5. Pest and disease management is important especially melonfly-pest and fungal diseases

Kindly you're welcome again if still need more information
