Poultry How to increase the numbers of birds on your farm

This you can easily achieve by selecting special flock of say 20 birds to specialize in laying fertile eggs and group them separate with maximum 4 cocks of desired traits.

Once you have your eggs which will be maximum of 140 in 1 week, some of the birds will be broody as local poultry get broody after laying average 9-12 eggs, you can set the eggs for hatching.

Manage the chicks separately upon hatching, releasing the mother hen immediately after hatching before imprinting (bonding). This makes the birds return to laying cycle after only 10 days hence faster production of chicks.

Within 6 months you will have over 500 birds and an established laying flock, egg sitters and commercial flock laying unfertilized eggs for sale without buying from outside.

Alternatively you can incubate the eggs and produce your chicks.

Other management practices remains constant e.g housing and diseases control.
