Is it risky to keep ducks and chickens in the same compound such that they mix during their freelancing time?

Yes it is risky unless you are doing opportunistic farming.cross infection would be common in addition to difficultly in running effective disease control program egg all in all out... Unless otherwise you decide that the program will apply regardless of age and type of birds. Best practice is different species of birds kept in separate holding units.

Cocks running with hens for the purpose of breeding it would be difficult feeding them separately. However those ment for meat it is pointless feeding them layers mash when broilers mash can make them reach market weight faster.
