Livestock Rearing goats for meat vs. for dairy

New member
Good morning,
On this platform, there's only a course available for Dairy Goats which is teaching me a lot. I do wonder however, what the differences in feed for rearing goats for meat is and, if there are any special considerations for meat goats.
Thank you.

Hello, meat goats have little difference in rearing.
Breeds of meat goats include: Small east African goat, Galla goat, Boer.
Feeding:
Give Fodder such as Nappier and green leaves.
Provide protein supplement such as Desmodium, leucaena leaves, calliandra leaves and cotton seed cake.
Provide minerals such as Maclick mineral block.
Provide adequate water for your goats
Deworm goats after every 2-3 months.
Vaccinate goats against Contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP) first at the age of 1 month and after every 6months.
Tick control: use acaricide or pour ons to control ticks every 2 weeks.
Notwithstanding ensure you have a Veterinary officer who will be making visits in your farm so as to prevent diseases rather than treating.
