@Simonokola, yes it must have scared you am sure, that condition occurs only when either bird swallows bee venom or it could be subcutenous emphysema. Chicken have nine air sacs which are thin walled bubble like pockets that works as a system to circulate oxygen throughout their bodies. At times this may rupture when birds are frightened especially by night vapires or kites. When raptured, air will leak and accumulate under the birds skin. If not released, the tear in the sac will enlarge. If that is the condition, then with an aid of sterile needle one can prick the area to allow air to escape and clean the area with iodine solution. Don't be suprised if it re-occurs again. Otherwise the remaining air should be abbsorbed back into the system. If it happens to be a sting from the bee then identify the point and apply antihistamin cream on the spots. Otherwise picture of the bird showing the most swollen part would help. The sacs are located on the neck, chest and belly. Rupture in any disrupts the entire system. If the condition is beyond your management i.e no vet around to assist, you just have to put the bird down(slaughter).
