I have seen many of these my last few years in farming. Some examples below:
- Seller will ask for money up front and then disappear. Unless you completely trust the buyer, DO NOT send money up front.
- Sellers will provide chicks without the proper vaccinations and many of the flock die of a disease. Make sure to ask for vaccination records.
- Feed providers will give feeds without the proper nutrients and it, therefore, slows the growth of your birds or kills them. Either buy from a known source, ask other farmers their experience, or make your own feeds with the proper nutritional requirements.
- Finance companies give loans with very large interest rates, making the business not profitable. Make sure to create a business plan to understand your cash flow and expect to lose some money as you learn the first few years.
- Remember to always do your research! Good luck out there fellow farmers, if we work together we can stop this corruption!
