What takes to start cabbage and carrots farming in Ghana
Hi Obed, in Ghana just like in other part of the earth, you need to be sure of the following basics conditions and requirements.
- certified seeds 100gm-120gms per acre
-Soil tested and found to be suitable PH 6-7 for both cabbage and carrots growing( done early enough to allow amendments needed in time)
-Deep fertile, well drained sandy- loam soils (fertility can be improved through application of compost manure or industrial fertilizer) as
per soil test results and recommendations.
-irrigation system to supplement natural rain this is applicable to cabbages since they need ever Moist soil through out growing period however, even carrots respond badly to water stress
  • Both crops performance are optimal in cool temperatures
  • Adequate labour to manage activities during production period
-Good timing to enable you have produce at the right time to make sales easily without spending much resources in marketing activities
-If you intend to do large scale then there's need for at least one skilled personnel to mage your work force in addition to your selfself
NB. It's also important to consider the operational cost (variable) and make everything available or needed adjustments
