Poultry Which Poultry breed to Keep

I have been researching on different poultry breeds and the latest articles tend to claim that the Kari kienyeji breed can produce upto 250-300 eggs per year making it by far the most superior Kienyeji Improved bird we have in the market. This is if it is ranked by it high resistance to diseases, Normal feeding scale, maturity at 4- 5 Months and egg productivity. One questions that remain pertenent is if these claims are tru and how does the bird perform for the production meat.

Being dual purpose / improved kienyeji the nutrient partitioning will go either way depending on the feed you give. That is you can feed them toward egg laying or meat. Remember over a conditioning birds leads to low egg production and fattens them for meat. 2.kg average though

Thank you for your reply, 2KG is a pretty damn good weight. This is in 4-5 months or what is the time line?

Gains when when laying seized. It has no linear regression like pure broilers would but that could be near estimate

Awesome. Thank you for your responses. You definitely unclogged my mind.

Would you happen to know what are the rates for vets?
  1. Permanent in your farm
  2. For particular vaccinations - fowl pox & fowl Typhoid.
