Hello Mr. Mukindia welcome and thanks for your question. On choice of irrigation we look at many factors however related to costs here below are some the facts to guide you

1. Drip system has high initial cost but very little cost to run/ operation cost. Other activities like fertilizer application through fertigation is possible hence low cost of production
2. Over head sprinklers are relatively cheap to install but considerably higher maintenance, management and operational costs this type also may open doors as predisposition to fungal diseases spread, encourage weeds growth hence increased cost of production

3.surface/furrow/flooding. Is the cheapest however require a lot of labour, water and power to pump.
This method bring forth challenges of soil erosion thereby lowering soil nutrients availability, leaching of fertilizer.
