Good afternoon Nicodemus, first am pleased with how you are determined for success in farming based on your constant search for professional advice from eLengo we really appreciate you being our valued partner back to your question, I would recommend Rassosal K a product from Osho chemicals. This product contains high percentage of Potassium as a major element. You can as well check on any other product(s), provided it has Potassium as major element in compound form I.e N.P.K or single formulation 25%-35%K. One such product in compound formulation NPK is (Omex)

Afternoon doc,thanks a lot certified expert elengo team, for your good advice,i planted my tomatoes seedling on sunday evening and by following you instructions on how to prevent transplant shock and by doing that my tranplanted seedlings are now wonderful,just looking like as if they are still in seedling bed,will go step by step through your guidelines until i harvest.

Hi, Susan here below is the breakdown process for nusery preparation.

1.select site based on :-

• closeness to water source
• secure
• open not under permanent shade
• not recently (atleast 2-3years)under tomatoes, potatoes, brinjals ,peppers etc
• Fertile soil and well drained.
• If possible not far from main farm/field

2. Land/site preparation

• Clear the site and remove vegetation
• perform first cultivation 21days- 1 month before intended date of transplanting
• a well dug soil is mixed with well decomposed farm yard manure/ compost at a rate of 1 bucket per M²( if you can double dig the better) this will help in weed removal and management and also improve soil aeration which will benefit in good drainage.
• Let the soil to settle like 2-3 weeks and do a second tilling by ensuring fine tilth (fine soil particles are achieved) which will give good soil-seed contact for best germination.
• Demarcate your nursery bed 1M wide by any desirable length depending on quantity of the seeds or land size.
• Ensure the bed is level a process that can be achieved using a rake as mix manure properly. At this stage you may also broadcast SSP or DSP or NPK or DAP like 1kg for a 10 M long bed
• Water thoroughly and cover with green house polythene (air tight) tacking all sides under soil this will help in getting rid of soil Nematodes and other microorganisms that might affect your crops.This process is called solarization, it takes 4-7 days then sowing can be done. Instead of this process one can opt for use of chemicals.
• On a levelled bed, with fine soil particles achieved, make 1 inch deep furrows which are 10 CM apart to drill your seeds
• Water sufficiently, an activity that you be repeating twice a day (evening and morning) when there's no rain. Cover them with a mulch which will be removed immediately the seedlings start coming out( 4-5 days) and a raised shade is erected instead.
• weed management practices is a must
• thinning done if seedlings are overcrowded by removing small seedlings and replanting them t seedlings nusery.

-,frequently monitor pest and diseases especially damping off
-Hardening from the beginning of the last week to transplanting where shade materials are reduced gradually.
