Hello this could be due to several reasons
  1. Shock because of the distance if they were not uplifted and properly handled
  2. Poor planting techniques bearing in mind that already uplifting and Transportation mechanisms reduced their viability to a lower percentage
  3. Post planting management e.g watering frequently and adequately
  4. Climatic variation especially if they were not properly hardened e.t.c

Could you help on how best to handle this from experience?
Hello tazima, Bacterial Wilt is soil borne and can only managed in the following ways
1.Crop rotation (do non follow onions crops in subsequent seasons or other crops related to onions)
2.Plant varieties that are tolerant to the disease
3.Uproot and destroy affected crops
4. You can also do soil treatment by solarization or fumigation before planting
