Morning doc, my ducks seem to have a prolonged hiatus from egg laying. After their ducklings died, its been almost 2 months without resuming to lay eggs despite the fact that the drake is mating with them. What could be the problem?

Hi,I once bought chicken from our local market, took them home mixed with the flock at home,bt infected the flock. They started dying,in five days the whole flock was wiped.my question is which drugs should one administer to such chicken B4 putting together with the rest?
Whenever you buy a new flock let them stay separate from the ones you have for a period of like one week so that you observe them. Some come from sources that are not reliable and could have missed marek vaccination at day old.
Separation and observation will save you a great deal and you are able to act if you see any challenge.

There are several reasons to this:
1. Ducks can not be raising their ducklings and expect them to lay eggs..they will take atleast two much so that they ensure their ducklings are mature enough.
2.Broodiness
When a duck lay eggs and you remove the eggs before they hatch, they may sit on the empty nest for a full 28 days . if you notice this destroy the nest so that they can get back to their normal life.
3. Nutrition
The feed you provide should contain Calcium mineral to enable egg formation in the duck, otherwise they will take long to lay again.
4.Molting
Ducks molt( removing old feathers and allowing new ones to grow) ones every year.during this time they can not lay eggs.
5. Stress/disease
Ducks under stress or recovering from a disease will take time before they get back to normal life and lay again.
